April 16: Hazara Shias attacked in Quetta

A shopkeeper belonging to the Hazara community, was killed and three others wounded in firing incidents in Quetta. The banned militant organization Lashkar-e-Jhangvi claimed responsibility for the attacks. Police officials informed that unidentified armed men on a motorcycle opened fire at a tyre shop located on Kanwari Road of Quetta and say the incident appeared to be a case of sectarian targeted killing.

 In another incident, unidentified armed men opened fire on a vehicle carrying Hazara passengers near the Benazir Bhutto flyover in Quetta. Nobody was injured as the bullets only hit the wheels of the vehicle. According to reports, some 18 people belonging to the Hazara community have been killed in targeted sectarian attacks in parts of Quetta during the last 10 days. Pakistan Today Pakistan Today

April 16: Grenade attack kills student at Peshawar school

A student was killed and two others injured when unidentified armed men attacked Iqra Public School in Charganokaly on Charsadda Road. The two armed men were riding a motorcycle and threw a hand grenade inside the private school premises, informed police sources. The assailants managed to escape from the scene. Daily Times

 

April 16: MPA's school bombed in Swabi

Unidentified militants blew up a private school, owned by a parliamentarian from the Awami National Party, Sikandar Irfan. Police officials said that main gate, boundary wall and rooms of the school were damaged when a five-kilogram bomb, planted at its entrance, went off. No one was present in the school at the time of the explosion. Dawn

April 18: Schoolteacher shot dead in Kech, Quetta

A schoolteacher, Mullah Ahmed, sustained multiple bullet wounds when he was shot by unidentified assailants in Zamran area of Kech district. Ahmed was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. The motive behind the killing could not be ascertained, sources said. Daily Times

April 19: 107th school bombed in Bajaur

Unidentified militants destroyed a government-run school in Nawagai tehsil in Bajaur Agency. Local sources said armed men entered the building of Government Primary School for Boys in Sharifkhana village and planted explosive devices. The blasts were triggered via remote-control and destroyed the school building. 10 people were arrested in the search operation launched by the local administration after the incident. The News

April 20: Militants target girls school in Jamrud

Unidentified militants blew up a government girls’ school in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency. Local officials said that a group of armed men entered the Said Ahmad Jan Kali girls school building at midnight and planted explosives alongside its boundary wall. The bombs went off with a loud explosion causing damage to classrooms and a portion of the boundary wall. Local militant group Abdullah Ezzam Brigade claimed responsibility for the incident. Dawn

April 21: Sectarian clash leaves one dead in Islamabad

One person was killed and two others were injured in what was identified as an incident of sectarian violence near Aabpara police station. According to police sources, there had been a sectarian clash over the hoisting of an 'Alam' on a shrine in the area.Members of one sect were attacked in Argentina Park by two motorcycle riders who fired multiple shots at them. As a result Khalid Waheed Abbasi lost his life and Abdul Aziz and Mohammad Sajjad Iqbal suffered injuries. Dawn

April 21: Two more Hazaras killed in Quetta

Two Hazara Shias were gunned down on Brewery Road in Quetta. The Frontier Corps (FC) claimed to have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in the killing and seized arms from them. The deceased were residents of Hazara Town. Hundreds of Shias staged a protest on Brewery Road and shouted slogans against law enforcement agencies for their failure to protect the Hazara community. Daily Times

April 22: Two schools destroyed in bomb blasts in KPK

Twin bombs were used to blow up a government middle school building in Dera town, about 8 km from Dera Ismail Khan. Three rooms, a verandah and walls of the school were destroyed in the explosions, in which 18 kilograms of explosives packed in tin cans, were used.

Elsewhere, in the Terai Bala village within the Mathra Police Station jurisdiction, another public primary school was targeted. Police said two IEDs were planted inside the building of the boys’ primary school. One classroom and the boundary wall of the school were destroyed. Express Tribune

April 22: Hazara man shot at, injured in Quetta

A man belonging to the Hazara community was shot and sustained injuries on McCongy Road in what appeared to be another case of violence against Shias. The victim, identified as Sajjad Ali, was on his way when assailants on a motorbike opened fire on him. He sustained injuries and was rushed to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for treatment. Daily Times
