September 4: Two killed in sectarian attacks

A police officer and a tailor were gunned down in Karachi, apparently on sectarian grounds. The city also witnessed two killings in an attack on a roadside tea shop during the same morning. ASI Syed Ali Mohsin Jafri, who was one of the victims, was sprayed with bullets in Khudadad Colony within the remit of the Brigade police station soon after he left his home in Lines Area for work. In New Karachi, a tailor said to be the brother of an Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat activist was shot dead at his shop. Two men riding a motorcycle opened fire on the shop, situated in Sector 5-F and fled the scene according to an official at the New Karachi Industrial Area police station. Dawn

September 4: Shia dentist killed in Balochistan

A dentist belonging to Hazara community was killed in a firing incident in the provincial capital. Unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on Shaukat Clinic on Kinrani Road near Hazara Town and fled from the scene. Resultantly, one man sustained injuries and succumbed to them before reaching the hospital. The deceased was identified as Niamatullah. No group has claimed responsibility for the murder so far. September 5: School bombed in Mohmand Agency

Suspected militants blew up another state-run school in the Safi tehsil of Mohmand Agency. The militants placed explosives in the Government Primary School in Gongat Johar village of the Safi tehsil, which went off early in the day. The school structure was razed to the ground as a result of the blast. So far, 101 schools have been destroyed in Mohmand Agency due to attacks by militants. The News

August 27: Three more Hazaras killed in Quetta

Three  Shias belonging to the Hazara ethnicity were killed in a sectarian drive-by shooting in Quetta. No further details were available of the attack. Police said unidentified armed men, riding a motorcycle, attacked an auto-rickshaw in which three persons were travelling from the Quetta city to Hazara Town. The attackers opened indiscriminate fire from automatic weapons, killing all three individuals. The people from Hazara community thronged the hospital, staged protests and demanded of the government to step down, saying the incident proved a failure on part of the government to be effective ruling body. The News

 August 28: Government school bombed in Swabi

Unidentified miscreants blew up an under-construction government girls’ higher secondary school in Dagai area of Swabi. The miscreants planted two bombs in empty vegetable 'ghee' (oil) tins, which exploded with a big bang at around 2.45am. The guard of the school, Hayat Gul, fell unconscious after the explosion. The blasts partially damaged the boundary wall and the building. Daily Times

 August 30: Shia judge and two others killed in Quetta

Unidentified gunmen shot dead a Shia Muslim judge, Zulfiqar Naqvi, along with his driver and police bodyguard on Saryab Road in a suspected sectarian attack. The incident took place in Quetta, the capital of the oil and gas rich province of Baluchistan, as Mr. Naqvi was travelling to his office. Gunmen were waiting for him at a railway crossing and the moment the car slowed down, the assailants sprayed it with bullets and fled. There was no claim of responsibility for the attack. Express Tribune

August 20: Ahmadis restricted from offering Eid prayers

According to the spokesperson of Ahmadiyya community, Saleemuddin, Ahmadis were restricted from offering Eid prayers at Ewan-e-Tauheed located in E-Block, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi. Saleemuddin said, “Ewan-e-Tauheed is where most of us offered Eid and Friday prayers, however, the situation changed nine months ago when a hate campaign against our community enticed residents of the area to restrict our activities. Prior to the Eid prayers, we sought approval from the local law enforcement agencies to let us pray on Eid or suggest an alternative site where we could congregate.” Saleemuddin added that "an estimated number of 2,000 Ahmadis were expected to congregate and offer Eid prayers, however, were unable to do so because of the sudden change of events triggered by influence of local powerful businessmen”. Dawn

August 21: Shia killings continue in Gilgit- Baltistan

Despite heightened security, various incidents of firing killed two people, including an FC personnel, while a third person was injured. The President of the Newspaper Vendors Association was shot dead on Karakoram Highway, while his aide sustained injuries. After a few hours, unidentified miscreants opened fire on two FC officials posted outside the deputy commissioner’s office, killing one and injuring the other. Following the incidents, tension gripped the area and the streets remained deserted. Daily Times

August 22: 12 year old Christian boy murdered in Faisalabad

Suneel, son of Yaqoob Masih, had gone missing the night before Eid. The family had registered a complaint at the Gulberg police station and had been looking for him on their own. Later, the body of Yaqoob was found from the Factory Area in Chamra Mandi. A police driver discovered the body on his way home. He said the boy had apparently been killed using a sharp weapon and there were cuts all over his body. The body had then been set on fire. Hundreds of Christians staged a protest demonstration to express their resentment over the killing. The protesters carried clubs and iron rods and threw stones at shops and vehicles along the Narwala Road. Traffic remained suspended for more than four hours. Express Tribune
